Solar Energy Systems at Metropolitan

In support of Metropolitan's commitment to sustainability, we will have completed, by the end of 2009, the installation of photovoltaic solar panels on the rooftop of our corporate headquarters in Brooklyn. At an initial cost of $3 million, this state-of-the-art system will provide one third of Metropolitan's annual demand for electricity, thereby reducing our dependence on public utilities.

First in a series of planned innovations, the installation of solar panels at Metropolitan will be the largest system of its kind in the City of New York. To demonstrate our commitment and to invite public awareness of the installation, we have hosted meetings at corporate headquarters with Con Edison and with the New York State Public Services Commission.
